BEIJING, Aug. 5, 2008 (Xinhua) -- Members of “Dance Fashion” cheering squad train on burning sands at the Chaoyang Park Beach Volleyball Ground in Beijing, China, Aug. 2, 2008.
The “Dance Fashion” cheering squad was founded in 2006 in Guangzhou, capital of south China’s Guangdong Province, composed of dance coaches, teachers and undergraduates. After two-year performance for two basketball teams of Guangdong Province in China Basketball Association, the experienced squad won the champion of a cheering squad selection in Guangzhou and got the qualification for Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. “People consider us as dancers to cheer up athletes. Actually, it's only part of our job. Getting spectators to enjoy our performance and interact with us is also impportant. We perform on the stage which is a competition field both for athletes and for us.” said Wang Xue, rooter king of the cheering squad. Now 12 young women of the cheering squad are training hard in Beijing to realize their dream on Olympics.
