Listen Against isn't perhaps one of Radio 4's best comedy programmes, but almost worth listening to for the awful "Melvyn Bragg has been tampering with the time of the Reformation in his home-made In Our Time machine" gag.
Cue groans.

The Death, Or Possibly Dearth, Of Culture
As I was driving the waiting staff home this week...
Robyn - "What's this [on the radio]?"
Me - "It's Radio 4, 11.30pm, it sounds like a play or a Book At Bedtime."
Robyn (incredulous) - "There's a Radio 4 ?! I've never heard of it."
Me - "Stephen Fry says Radio 4 is just about the best thing about living in Britain."
Maddy - "Stephen Fry is really annoying."
Me - "You both have to shut up right now or I'm dumping you by the roadside."

"I have had the feeling of being crushed under a rock till I could only see one crack of light - and that was the love of God: the absolute certainty, when everything else had been taken from me, that God loved me." - Gerald Priestland, author and broadcaster, speaking about his faith and suffering a stroke, in his final R4 broadcast.
